 Davenant Reunited Home Page

This website is dedicated to - and for the use of, all former and current pupils and staff of Davenant Foundation School.

The site administrator will not in future be making any regular updates to the site. The site will remain for the foreseeable future as a document of record. Perhaps somebody would like to take it over and move it on.......?

Davenant was founded in 1680 by Revd. Ralph Davenant.               The school was based in Whitechapel until 1965 so there are many of us who still have vivid memories of that era.............

 Memories of the 1960's

  • The glass-sided "temporary" classrooms.
  • The milk table under the arches.
  • Swimming lessons at Aldgate Baths.
  • Mr. Newton and his Squeegee bottles.
  • The Mock Trial of Bob Tyler.
  • House Names--Carter(yellow), Owen(green), Warren(red) and Wise(blue).
  • Games at Gorsebrook Playing Fields in Dagenham.
  • "Our Father, by whose servants our house was built of old "
