 Davenant Reunited Home Page

June 2009

This website is dedicated to - and for the use of, all former and current pupils and staff of Davenant Foundation School.

The webmaster will in due course, be making a number of data and photo updates in response to information which many of you have kindly sent us over the past few months.

However, please be aware that we won't be able to respond to any emails between 27th June and 20th July

Davenant was founded in 1680 by Revd. Ralph Davenant.               The school was based in Whitechapel until 1965 so there are many of us who still have vivid memories of that era.............

 Memories of the 1960's

  • The glass-sided "temporary" classrooms.
  • The milk table under the arches.
  • Swimming lessons at Aldgate Baths.
  • Mr. Newton and his Squeegee bottles.
  • The Mock Trial of Bob Tyler.
  • House Names--Carter(yellow), Owen(green), Warren(red) and Wise(blue).
  • Games at Gorsebrook Playing Fields in Dagenham.
  • "Our Father, by whose servants our house was built of old "

Reunions are also occasionally held at Loughton, so do please let us know if you are interested.
